In the period 2002-2010, the United Nations Agency for Migration (IOM) developed the Survey on Remittances in Guatemala that included aspects related to the international migration of Guatemalan people. Given the current migration dynamics, and based on the report A / 71 / 296-2016 of the Secretary General of the United Nations, IOM updates it and submits it to the State of Guatemala to provide reliable, transparent and verifiable data that serve not only to informed decision-making, but as a basis for the formulation of policies, projects and plans that benefit mobile populations and their communities of origin.
All girls, boys and adolescents are full subjects of law. IOM recognizes this and assumes as a principle of mandatory compliance to contribute so that, in any decision taken, the physical, spiritual, psychological, moral and social development of girls, boys and adolescents is prioritized in order to achieve their full and harmonious development, taking into account the appropriate direction and orientation of his mother and father.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), created in 1951, is the main intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Furthermore, it is enshrined in the principle that migration in an orderly manner and in human conditions benefits migrants and society.
In support of the emergency caused by the eruption of the Volcano of Fire, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) offers the Government of Guatemala the information compiled with the methodology of the Human Mobility Monitoring Matrix (DTM). The DTM is a very flexible tool that is implemented through technology solutions to generate information quickly. This information was collected on Sunday, June 17, with the support of the technical staff coordinator of each official shelter registered by SOSEP. The results are presented classified into rounds.
